Staples to carry Barnes and Noble Nook Color May 1st

Staples announced today that they will begin carrying the Barnes and Noble Nook Color e-Reader at all locations in the USA starting May 1st 2011.

The Barnes and Noble Nook Color is a runaway success for customers all over the world. It offers newspapers, magazines, kids books, textbooks and ebooks, in full color. Sometime in the next month the company will also be issuing a firmware update that will allow Adobe Flash to run on the web browser.

Staples will be the only superstore to carry the Nook Color, aside from Wallmart and of course the Barnes and Noble retail chain. It already carries the Amazon Kindle e-reader and is looking to cash in on the recent market success of e-readers.

It looks like Staples is doing the right thing, rather then carrying a ton of sub par e-readers it seems to be just stocking on its shelves the ones that have a proven industry track record of sales.

Motorola XOOM pre-orders currently being accepted at Amazon, Staples, Costco

By Sovy

Motorola has now officially announced the XOOM Wi-Fi tablet will be making it to the retail space March 27. B&H has already been taking pre-orders for the Wi-Fi only XOOM with deliveries slated to begin from March 27th. Now other retailers have also joined the scene with Amazon, Staples, and Costco currently accepting pre-orders for the tablet.

The price has been fixed at 9.99 for the Wi-Fi XOOM which will be available in the 32 GB storage option. Staples though will be shipping the tablet on March 25th, which will ensure you have the tablet in your hands on the launch day itself. For this, pre-orders will have to be placed before the 23rd of March. Amazon, on the other hand, isn’t mentioning any shipping date while Costco has said they will start shipping from April 1st. Costco is making that up with a slightly reduced price of 9.99 as well as a gel case which comes free.

So, if you have been holding off your purchase of the XOOM, you have plenty of options ahead of you.

WiFi-only Xoom headed to Staples for March 27th release

By Sovy

Staples, the office supply store chain has come out with an ad showing the availability of Motorola XOOM tablet from their stores starting the 27th of March. On offer will be the Wi-Fi only version of the XOOM and the price shown is a sweet 0.

Now, Motorola has been talking of a Wi-Fi only version to take into account all those who have been wary of the high price tag that the 3G enabled XOOM comes for. So while the cheaper Wi-Fi XOOM was definitely expected, that it would be a reality so soon does comes in as a pleasant surprise.
