  1. @IFoundMyUsername The idea of the ipad feels a decade old because eve the Newton can do a lot of things the iPad couldn’t do.

  2. So iPad is one decade old.

  3. @adamz1977 Good job being an obtuse moron. Watch the movie slower this time, and focus on the flat panels that have some relevance to the discussion, rather than the bulldozer controls. The iPad is not a dirt mover.

  4. I see a lot of push buttons and joysticks in Avatar. Did you not see that movie? Those types of controls are important for controlling complex things like bull-dozers or helicopters because you need to feel the controls with you hands while you’re eyes are processing input from the environment. Touch screens are inefficient UI’s since they require your eyes and hands to be directed at the same place.

  5. I would’ve bought the iPad if they would’ve launched it with photo/video capabilities, and 3G/wifi all in one. I’m thinking this was just their first generation “feeler” and the next release will have it all. At least I’m hoping that’s the case. I feel that it’s intended use is in a different catagory as appose to the “standard” notebook. I’m going to wait.

  7. mythS apple virus is less than pc.. do one on this falsehood.

HP Slate can use the full web. It uses a 1.6 mhz processor vs 1.0, It obviously has no flash issues. has hdmi, and audio out. It truly multitasks, has 2 cameras, has a sd card, also has a USB 2.0 port. has four times the ram of the IPad., on 64gb system is 100.00 cheaper. No myth that the HP Slate is more value and heh I don’t have to force fed some crap about how its better to have Apple make my decisions.

  8. “I’m being sarcastic” LMAO

  9. Apple brings the easy to the table. Can the average person pick one up and use it without much instruction? There is your answer and that is why Apple will continue to dominate!

  10. “foofie hardware” haha :D

  11. i liked the xbox joke. lol

  12. hey, I agree with you. But I think you’re too hard on the kindle. No, it doesn’t have the features of the ipad; it’s not meant to!
I’ve seen the kindle, and the e-ink doesn’t make your eyes water like a traditional display.

E-ink has tons of limitations, but look at the battery life. The ipad will never compete with that Again, it’s not meant to! It’s in a different game. Its overlap to kindle-territory may still prove fatal for the kindle, though I think the kindle will simply get cheap.

  13. So the credit you’re talking about at the beginning of your video is what you think Apple might do? Making a successful and “viable product”.
I won’t deny its a nice piece of hardware. But, the problem is the tablet category is an in between. Its in between computers and phones, plus nobody quite sure what they’ll do with a tablet.
Whats the purpose of a tablet? What will I use it for? I think if these questions were answered it would really help with the sale of tablets.

  14. I wrote a history on Tablet form-factor computing you might be interested in reading. But interestingly, nobody to this point has been commercially successful in tablets.

Apple isn’t asking for credit for creating a tablet device nor claiming that it was first. It’s working to make a viable product in the category. If it can do that, it will deserve a lot of credit, given that nobody else managed to.

  15. lol dude there were other tablet computer concepts and products in and before the 90s. Like the GRiDPad in 89 or what about The RAND Tablet. Hell what about the Dynabook idea even though there was never a working concept.
Was it Bill Gates’ idea? No. Was it Apple’s idea? No. Other people thought of the “Tablet” idea before Apple. Sorry I won’t give Apple credit for this.
